The suburban town of Pelham in Westchester County is located about 14 miles northeast of midtown Manhattan. The town is named for Thomas Pell, who, in 1654, purchased the area from the Siwanoy Indians. He named his manor “Pelham” to honor Pelham Burton, his tutor.

Pelham, with a population of about 12,400, comprises two independently incorporated villages: Pelham and Pelham Manor. The villages share numerous public services including schools and recreational activities. The town is home to one high school, one middle school and four elementary schools, all belonging to the Pelham Union Free School District.

Pelham is conveniently located close to Amtrak’s New Rochelle stop, and is serviced by Metro-North’s New Haven line.
