In 2011, Connecticut Magazine ranked Newtown fourth out of 26 Connecticut cities with a population between 25,000 and 50,000 in its “Rating the Towns” report. Blessed with numerous parks, Newtown provides numerous recreational opportunities with its athletic fields, nature center, hiking trails and town pool. The town is easily accessible via Interstate 84. Many Newtown residents commute daily to Stamford, Hartford and Manhattan.
