Barb was born and raised in Fairfield County, Connecticut and earned a business degree in college. In 2005 she started working for the Ridgefield Board of Realtors, and then joined William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty as a Realtor® in their Ridgefield office, where she has happily worked for the past 10+ years.
A perennial award winner, Barb is a high-touch agent known for her extensive market knowledge and her unmatched devotion to clients. Her success is based primarily on positive referrals. She earns the respect of her clients by working tirelessly on their behalf and always offering candid advice.
Creativity and communication skills are strengths she draws on consistently. Working alongside a close friend and professional stager for the past 15 years has helped her work seamlessly with sellers to prepare a home for the market and for buyers to see the potential of a home. And as part of her strategic marketing plan to promote properties, Barb frequently hosts "The Real Estate Minute" on a nationally syndicated radio program, which is aired in over 50 states.
Her love for the business and her home state emanates and is evident from the moment you meet her.
As an avid gardener, hiker, jogger, cook and lover of really good red wine, Barb keeps busy in her beautiful town of Ridgefield.
Reigning supreme... her family, who has taught her that making a home is one of the most important things you will do in life. Mom to three grown children, all Ridgefield High School graduates, who still love to call Ridgefield their home. And with Sully Golden Retriever, and her husband Robert, they keep the fires warm for any and all visitors. A quote from one of her favorite movies sums it up - “There’s no place like home”.

Read LessBarbara Reiss is that rare combination of a talented real estate professional and a lovely person. I was in need of a commercial location for my new business. A business I have been planning for 14 years. NO PRESSURE!!! Everyone knows that location is one of the most important decisions a new business owner must make. However, every new business owner has different challenges and requirements when searching for and obtaining their ideal location. At times, these challenges can be hard to overcome. The one thing that I looked for most in a realtor, and found in Barbara, is a person that can make a connection with anyone. If it wasn’t a professional connection, it was a personal connection. For example, if she didn’t know the property manager we spoke to that day, then their children played on the same sports team in school, etc etc…I think you get what I'm saying. She always found a connection. A connection, I otherwise, would not be capable of making and would certainly not be focused on. The personal connections she is able to make because of her extensive history and knowledge of Ridgefield, blew me away! It definitely made the difference for me when it came to acquiring my commercial location. Barbara was comfortable selling me as a potential tenant, the value that my business had to offer, while also balancing the need to look out for both myself and the property manager. She was patient during what can be a long negotiation process and helped to assist in all the communication needed until I acquired my space! If you're looking for real estate in Ridgefield, I’d highly recommend speaking with Barbara before making any commitments.
From start to finish, Barbara was a true professional every step of the way. She encouraged us to make necessary updates to our home prior to putting it on the market, but was practical and reasonable in her suggestions. She was also able to connect us with local professionals who were able to get the work done quickly and reasonably. Those connections proved invaluable as we moved very quickly to get the house ready for sale. Having only moved one other time previously -- nearly 25 years ago -- the home selling process was basically new to us and Barb did a great job of explaining the process and helped us at every turn. I have already recommended Barb to a friend, and will continue to do so. She was a true pleasure to work with.
Barb did a great job advising and preparing us to sell our home. She was very hands on, and continued to be engaged and helpful after we listed our home, and during the short sales process. She stepped up with great references and recommendations to help us prep, stage and prepare our home after the sale for the final walkthrough. She was available for questions whenever we needed her and went out of her way to help us make our moving out process easier. We have nothing but good things to say about Barb and would highly recommend her for anyone looking to sell their home.
Barb Reiss was so great through the entire process - from her amazing staging skills, to literally helping us to clean out and organize all of our things, to being extremely knowledgeable, responsive, calming and reassuring every step of the way!! We feel so fortunate to work with Barb, and highly recommend her to anyone embarking on what can be a daunting project - both buying and selling!!!!
Barbara was excellent! helpful, informative, and fun to work with. Highly recommended agent.
Barbara Reiss - great real estate agent, be sure to keep her on board. Good connection with people, good communication sklls, knows the market and has a wonderful personality.
Barb Reiss is a fantastic realtor. She was very positive and upbeat and made the whole process go very smoothly. I would definitely recommend her.
Barb Reiss was amazing throughout this entire process! She came in with a perfect sales strategy, made sure the house looked its absolute best and then made the entire process incredibly smooth. When you sell for 6% over asking the numbers speak for themselves. I would 100% use her again to buy and sell real estate.
Barbara Reiss provided first class professional support to us in the sale of our beloved Ridgefield 200 year old antique home. Her boundless energy, thoughtful guidance and counsel was provided always throughout the process from beautifully preparing our home for sale to a magazine ready to view state, to advising us during the multiple offer and bidding war process, to helping us above and beyond in co-ordination and clearing of the home for the new buyers move in (in our out-of-state absence), to keeping the ball rolling and everyone calm and collected until close. It was 17 days from listing to offer. An incredible and positive experience for which we will always be grateful. Quite simply, Barb is a true, five star professional and a really nice person to work with. Thank you!
Always had consistent service and results from William Pitt and team
Barb was a real resource in finding a house in Ridgefield. She was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful -- we very much appreciated her assistance.
Thank you for assisting us in our house purchase! I had a good feeling about it from the first time I saw it. Your professionalism really stands out. Thank you so much, and I hope to see you around town.
My husband and I had the pleasure and good luck to have worked with Barbara Reiss in the recent sale of our home. Barb was with us every step of the way in our year-long transaction. Her professionalism and market knowledge guided us through the process from staging our home to negotiating and closing. She was always available and always had any market information we requested. In short, she supported us through what can be a long and emotional process with grace and a terrific knowledge of the market! We are so glad to have chosen her!
