What started as a search for a new vacation home evolved into a two-year odyssey. I had never owned a single-family residence, but was a happy city dweller with multiple apartments and a handful of gut/renovations under my belt. I thought I knew a lot. Suffice to say, I didn’t. I didn’t even really know what kind of house I would like. A person like me is a realtor’s nightmare client. Dottie’s patience is nothing less than awe-inspiring. Over that period, Dottie showed me many, many, many homes — old/new —traditional/contemporary — move-in condition/fixer-upper — Colonial, Saltbox, Farmhouse, etc. All during this time she continually educated me — how to interpret parcel and topographical maps, what to look for in mechanicals”, what questions to ask, why things were the way they were.” She even drew me a road map so I could drive & educate myself about an unfamiliar part of CT! After all this time, no home was found. And then we shifted to looking for land. Dottie effortlessly shifted her focus towards that goal. I had no illusions about my (lack of) knowledge in this area. Another learning experience. Same dedication and determination. We ended up wanting a parcel of land that entailed a challenging negotiation. Dottie worked diligently & tirelessly with the seller’s broker to complete the transaction. And now we are happy owners of a beautiful piece of land in Sharon, CT!
