Getting Started

After joining William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby's International Realty, your first few days will focus on getting you set up on our company systems. We will encourage you to meet with your new manager to determine your business plans and personal marketing goals.

    Week 1: Get set up for business
  • Transferring your license or submit your new application along with other paperwork to our corporate office, so they can set you up for website passwords/logins, personal websites, business cards, name badges, etc.
  • Contacting the local MLS to make sure you experience a seamless transition.
  • Setting up your email and voice mail.
  • Scheduling an appointment for a professional photograph.
  • Scheduling an appointment with our senior administrator who will introduce you to "Agent Connect", our company's intranet site.
  • Uploading your new listings to more than 25 real estate websites including Yahoo.com, Realtor.com, NYT.com, Trulia.com, and sothebysrealty.com.
  • Create a customized business plan and website strategy to help you develop your business.
    Week 2: develop your business presence
  • Create personalized postcard announcements to mail out to names in your spehere of influence. Additionally, countless e-cards can be sent out electronically.
  • Upload your personalized mailing list to our robust direct mail and email marketing systems.
  • Create your own individualized website with your photo, professional achievements, differentiations, and links to your listings.
  • Send press releases to all media outlets in your market.

Obtaining a Real Estate License

    Information for Connecticut

    In order to obtain a Real Estate License in Connecticut you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time you apply.
  • Educational Requirements: Salesperson applicants are required to have sixty (60) hours of Real Estate Principles & Practices instruction, which must be completed after October 1, 1994 to be accepted.

Keep in mind that is important to know the requirements, fees and procedures that are currently in effect, since these can change frequently.

Please note that Connecticut licensing is reciprocal with Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Tennessee.

    In order to obtain a Real Estate License in Connecticut you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time you apply.
  • Must have successfully completed a Department of State-approved 75-hour Salesperson qualifying course. If you have completed the 45-hour Salesperson qualifying course prior to July 1, 2008, you may complete the 30-hour remedial course in order to qualify for licensure.
  • Must be sponsored by a New York State licensed real estate broker.
  • Must pass the New York State Real Estate Salesperson examination.
