William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty Displays Local Artwork in Mindscape Exhibition

Darien, Conn. – September 30, 2014 William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty recently announced the display of local artist Fran Henry-Meehan’s abstract artwork in the firm’s Rowayton brokerage during the month of October.  The exhibition, entitled the Mindscape Series, will kick-off on October 5th from 4-6 PM with an office-held reception hosted in conjunction with the Rowayton Arts Council juried Composition Exhibition.

The Mindscape Series includes abstract works of flights and fantasy in the form of both paintings and prints.  In her works, Henry-Meehan aims to capture the feeling of pure energy by employing a visual vocabulary of calligraphic marks and layers of color and texture.

“Each piece has a different palette, mood, temperature and elemental reference,” said Henry-Meehan. “One may reflect energy that is calm, cool and grounded, while another shows a bright, fiery robust version of raw energy.”

Raised on Long Island, Fran Henry-Meehan studied graphic design at the Parsons School of Design in New York City.  In 1972 Meehan relocated to Connecticut, where she raised her family and eventually re-entered art school in 1991 at Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan, Conn.  She is now an artist member of the prestigious Silvermine Guild of Artists as well as a former Board of Trustee member and Chairperson of the Silvermine Guild Art Center.

“Fran is a wonderful local abstract artist,” said Gigi Melillo, manager of the William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty Rowayton brokerage.  “Her unique works are full of spirit, and we are thrilled and honored to display such raw talent and beauty throughout the office.”

In addition, Henry-Meehan is a member of the Monotype Guild of New England.  Her work has been exhibited widely in prestigious exhibitions such as the Connecticut Women’s Art Exhibit, The Art of the Northeast, The Boston Printmakers North American Print Biennial Exhibition, as well as many other regional, national and solo exhibitions.
