Rowayton, Conn. (August 30, 2017) — William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty announced today that the firm’s Rowayton brokerage will be hosting an artist reception as part of the “Sunday’s at Sotheby’s” series, a monthly program in which the office welcomes new art to display in its office. The reception is typically held on the first Sunday of each month. Photographer Andrea Carson will introduce her work on Sunday, September 10th from 4-6 p.m.
Carson is best known for her fine art images featuring whimsical depictions of children. After graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology with a major in photography and a minor in art history, she became a digital technician, photo assistant and editor for Victoria’s Secret along with many other high profile photographers and clients in New York City. She now resides in Rowayton with her husband and two daughters.
This new show, created specifically for the Rowayton office, is called “The End of Summer,” and is inspired by watching her kids and their friends eat endless amounts of ice cream and popsicles each day; an unforgettable memory Carson shares from her own childhood. Like the children, she found that summer treats themselves are quite beautiful on their own. While she watched the ice cream slowly melt, a comparison to summer emerged. At the end of something sweet and pleasurable there is a sense of sadness that it is over.
During the September 10th reception, which is open to the public, the Rowayton office will showcase a display of Carson’s photographs. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will also be served in a casual setting with opportunities to talk with Carson and discuss her work. The art will be on display all month.
“I’m thrilled to host this ‘sweet’ show for our community,’” said Darien/Rowayton agent Molly Crosland, who spearheads many of the brokerage’s artist series. “Andrea Carson is such a talented artist, and I’m thrilled we are able to showcase a new side of her work that many have not yet seen.”
